為甚麼要參加有名無實的選舉呢?

「今天讓我們開始一個公民練習吧,就由自薦成為選舉候選者出發,也著手思考:『如果我們真的有那個權力會如何?』我們會變成怎樣?會做甚麼?那正正是我們要向當權者提出的要求。」

2016年10月,在美國首府華盛頓舉行的 Creative Time Summit 年會上播放了古巴藝術家 Tania Bruguera 的一個錄像片段,宣佈了要參與2018年大選這想法[1]。如果大概了解古巴政治環境,也聽過 Bruguera 的藝術作品和行動,都會知道這不太可能是真的參選宣言,因為當地是古巴共產黨專政統治,雖然沒有明文規定議會參選者必須是黨員,但實際上選舉的候選名單都沒有任何反對派,對一般平民百姓來說,選舉也只是有名無實的政治操作。而 2018 年是古巴政治的一個轉捩點,因為自 1959 年革命以來,國家先後由 Fidel Castro 及 Raul Castro 兩兄弟領導近六十年,隨著 Raul Castro 宣佈計劃於 2018 年退位,教人觀望新一屆的國會及告別世襲的國家元首上場能否為古巴改朝換代。

如果不是說參選就能參選,Bruguera 的競選宣言又有甚麼意思呢?

“Let’s take advantage of the 2018 elections to change the culture of fear, to change the culture of ‘I can’t,’ the culture of double moral, the culture of ‘I better leave this place because I can’t live this way.’
Let’s use the 2018 to build a different Cuba, to build a Cuba where we are all in charge, a Cuba where decisions are never taken without asking the people.
